Trentemøller regresa con nueva canción y vídeo-clip: “In the Garden”.
Cuando a Lina Tullgren le fue entregado el tema “In the Garden”, es probable que ella no tuviese ni idea que se trataba de una canción destinada a ser instrumental. Como sucede con el resto de cortes incluidos en el nuevo álbum. Ha sido todo un logro que, finalmente, la letra y voz con las que Lina contribuye han terminado trazando un viaje inesperado al igual que una idea final muy satisfactoria. Su sano juicio no ha hecho sino coronar la faena comenzada por el danés. Tullgren, artista que no es ajena a estar acorralada por guitarras, turbulencias y ambientes plagados de reverberaciones (gracias a su propia música) entendió a la perfección los criterios de Anders, y a ellos sobrehiló su parte. El resultado final: una simbiosis perfecta entre músico y vocalista.
“Estaba pensando en cómo realmente no escribimos canciones. Somos más como conductos para ellas y, a menudo, las letras simplemente fluyen de ti sin atender ningún tipo de rima o razón. A veces es decisivo, y simplemente estás tratando de captar qué y cómo te sentiste en una situación determinada, pero sucede a menudo que no se trata de un proceso deliberado, sino más bien como una canalización ciega” confiesa Lina Tullgren.
La canción en sí misma da la sensación de que algo se está construyendo justo delante de ti. Una base sencilla es replicada por acordes de bajo. Con cada verso y coro se van sumando poco a poco las capas. Guardando todo lo anterior; como si de una “Matryoshka sonora” se tratase. Así sucede hasta el repique de guitarra que aparece para resolver todo el asunto. Es su presencia la que llevará en volandas al oyente hacia el final de esta hermosa canción.
En “In The Garden” se fusiona la idea de cocinar una canción a fuego lento. Ésta evoluciona pausada, sutil, pero con paso firme hasta que finalmente concluye. Es más que probable que realices una segunda escucha, acto seguido, para volver a captar todo lo que acaba de suceder.
El propio Trentemøller ha creado el video-clip que acompaña la canción; tal y como ya hizo con “Sleeper” (publicado en mayo).
Con “In the Garden” degustamos un segundo bocado de lo que será el próximo álbum de estudio de Trentemøller, el cual será lanzado en otoño de 2019.

Trentemøller returns with a new song and video ‘In The Garden’!
When she was handed the music to Anders Trentemøller’s “In The Garden,” Lina Tullgren may not have known it was meant to be an instrumental, like the rest of the songs on the new album. In a meta way, it feels right that the lyrics she contributed plot the journey of a kernel in an artist’s mind to becoming a fully fleshed out idea, and ultimately a completed work. No stranger to warbling, compressed guitars, and reverb-soaked ambience in her own music, Tullgren unsurprisingly understood where Anders was coming from, and stitched in her contribution, creating a symbiosis between instrumentalist and vocalist.
“I was thinking about how we don’t really write songs. We’re more like conduits for them, and often lyrics just flow out of you without any sort of rhyme or reason. Sometimes it’s decisive, and you’re simply trying to capture what and how you felt in a situation, but more often it’s not about a deliberate process, and more like blindly channelling.” says Lina Tullgren.
The song itself has the feel of something being constructed right before you. A simple beat is answered with chords played on a bass guitar. With each verse and chorus another layer is added, encasing what came before it, like a sonic Matryoshka, until the chiming guitar finally arrives to resolve the whole thing, and usher the listener to the end of the song.
“In The Garden” merges the idea of the slow build with a compact tune that gets to the point, developing subtly, and demanding another listen to ascertain what just happened.
Trentemøller has personally created the accompanying music video, just as he did with “Sleeper” (released in May).
“In the Garden” gives us a second taste from the forthcoming Trentemøller album, which will be released in the fall of 2019.
